UL Certification of New or Used Equipment

If you're thinking about new equipment for your facility, these days you need to think about UL Certification as well. For more than 70 years the National Electrical Code has required that all electrical equipment and machinery controls be labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory. In the early 2000's many new pieces of equipment were now being made in other countries that do not meet the UL Standards. The local Building department took notice of this and started to enforce NEC 110.21 (B) requiring all production equipment have a factory UL Certification label or a Field Applied UL Certification label on the equipment that was not UL Certified at the factory.
